Lately Microsoft has been running a charity initiative via their MSN Live messenger.
Every time you start a conversation using i’m, Microsoft shares a portion of the program's advertising revenue with some of the world's most effective organizations dedicated to social causes. We've set no cap on the amount we'll donate to each organization. The sky's the limit. There's no charge, so join now and put our money where your mouth is.
i’m is about making a difference. Not in a huge expensive way, not in a time-consuming way. But in a simple, effective way.
It's very simple really, if you have MSN Live Messenger 8.1 or above, you just have to type in the text code in your msn title to display the logo. And, according to them, the more chats with that logo in your title, the more they will donate to whichever cause you participate in.
The available codes are:
Text Code | Cause |
*red+u | American Red Cross |
*bgca | Boys & Girls Clubs of America |
*naf | National AIDS Fund |
*mssoc | National Multiple Sclerosis Society |
*9mil | ninemillion.org |
*sierra | Sierra Club |
*help | StopGlobalWarming.org |
*komen | Susan G. Komen for the Cure |
*unicef | The US fund for UNICEF |

Personally, I think this is a good initiative done by Microsoft to create some awareness about the different charity causes and their roles, as well as to contribute to each of the charities.
However, since it IS Microsoft, somehow, I always have the dark feeling that there's something hidden within the context... "udang di sebalik batu" if you will, hehe.
But anyways, it still for a good cause, so why not do it? it's a simple thing, and it's free anyways to begin with!!
So which cause are you gonna support ? =D
