Was watching Die Hard 4.0 for the second time the other day (nice movie by the way :p) when a thought suddenly hit me. This would be understood better by those who watched it, but anyways, it's a thought in general..
It seems like what they say in the movie is partially true, now virtually everything we do or use, there's some form of "computer" in it. Almost everything we use nowadays, it's always something to do with computers. For a lot of people, computers are our daily "bread and wine". We use computers for our work, for our studies, for our entertainments; virtually everything we use has some connections with it.
So what if there were a terrorist attack as shown in the movie ? I'm not saying our current computer systems are that vulnerable to attacks... but what if there was a failure in any ONE of those essential systems in a country ? the most critical, what would happen if our financial commercial servers were to fail like how they portrayed in the movie?
It seems that we're beginning to rely on technology too much these days. It's frightening to think if one of these crucial systems were to fail.. imagine the chaos... Although systems do have very secured security features and backups, but this doesn't mean they're full-proof rite ?
It won't be long before robots will be developed, and soon all human tasks will be slowly transferred to them.. soon, making us even more reliant on technology.. it won't be long till movies like.. I, robot can actually come true.. !!
Well, anyways, the thing is.. it's scary that soon, we'll be so reliant on technology, we'll be incapable to live without it. As it is, there are lots of people out there who can't even go 24 hours without the net.
Will there be any hope for mankind in the future... ?
